It’s one of the great paranoid thriller premises of all time, but it just so happens to also be filled with gross and fantastic alien gore. However, once the American crew takes the dog in and shelters it, they discover it’s an alien that can transform into any living creature, mimicking it perfectly - and that makes every one of them a suspect. Suddenly, a dog from a local Norwegian camp rushes into their base, with Norwegian men hot on its heels, trying to kill it by any means necessary. The Thing follows a group of researchers working at an Antarctic base. The Thing, the second adaptation of the excellent novella Who Goes There?, remains thrilling, terrifying, and absolutely disgusting more than 40 years after its release. Here, we present a high-throughput approach utilizing established computational quantum chemistry methods (CQC) to produce a database of approximate infrared spectra for 958 P-molecules. Very few molecules have high accuracy spectral data from experiment or theory instead, the best current spectral data was obtained using a high-throughput computational algorithm, RASCALL, relying on functional group theory to efficiently produce approximate spectral data for arbitrary molecules based on their component functional groups. Gaseous P-molecules are rare, with speciation information scarce. We start by enumerating phosphorus-bearing molecules (P-molecules) that could potentially be detected spectroscopically in planetary atmospheres and collecting all available spectral data. To follow up this discovery and related future exoplanet biosignature detections, it is important to spectroscopically detect the presence of phosphorus-bearing atmospheric molecules that could be involved in the chemical networks producing, destroying or reacting with phosphine. And because it was indelible the work would eventually bear witness to their origins, rank, and valour when they were summoned to appear before their forefathers, the gods of the fabled land of ‘Hawaiki’ in the afterlife. In Marquesan Island culture tattoos were not only a privilege, but also a must, providing a bond to the sacred memory of their ancestors and had a far-reaching impact on people’s lives. ![]() Some of the designs were intended to keep individuals from losing their mana – the divine power that is responsible for health, balance, and reproduction, as well as to combat evil forces. There were three types of tribal tattoos: those for gods, priests, and princes, which were hereditary and thus reserved for their descendants those reserved for male and female chiefs and the third type which were reserved for war leaders, warriors, dancers, and rowers. In addition, an image could represent remarkable events in the life of the person concerned such as acts of bravery in war, prowess as a hunter or fisherman, or simply as a decorative feature on the skin. All of this data was etched into the facial skin (a moko) and the body and served as a kind of identity card for each person.Ī tattoo could also mark the accomplishment of important social rituals such as the passage from childhood to puberty, marriage, etc. Polynesians therefore used tattoos to distinguish themselves, displaying their social status, rank, geographic origin, familial history, courage, and power. They also held a sacred importance as they were thought to possess magical abilities inherited from God. In the distinctive language of the Marquesas islands a Polynesian tattoo is described as ‘E Patu Tiki’, meaning ‘in order to strike an image’ and is recognised as the place where the most extensive and ornate designs have been found.Īccording to the origins of Māori tattoo art, they were seen not just as decoration, but also as a language, a symbol of power, and a mark of honour in traditional Polynesian society. Their precise origins are unknown, but Māori tattoos can be found all across the Polynesian Triangle, with examples ranging from the Cook Islands and French Polynesia (with the exclusion of numerous islands south of the Australs and east of Tuamotu) to Hawaii, Samoa, Easter Island, and New Zealand. The glowing creature leads Moana to the open ocean and begins the movie's biggest adventure. The word tattoo is derived from the Tahitian word Tatau, which means ‘to strike’ or ‘to hit’. The old woman always spoke about how she wanted to come back as a manta ray after she died, and she does. The silver lining here is that Tala's spirit lives on. It's pretty simple yet extremely heartbreaking. Almost immediately after Tala hands over the Heart to Moana, she dies. But, perhaps the most significant connection between the Heart of Te Fiti and Tala's life force happens the night of the woman's death. This theory - like other Moana theories - is supported by many scenes throughout Moana. ![]() Related: 10 Beloved Disney Movies Everyone Forgets Bombed Perhaps the Heart of Te Fiti was keeping Tala alive long enough to aid young Moana on the quest to find Maui and save the world. It can be assumed that when Tala felt her health weakening, she knew it was time to send Moana on her quest. During her final days with the young girl, Tala's hard work is finally paying off as Moana begins to explore the ocean more. A popular fan theory explains that with the Heart in her possession, Gramma Tala was granted a little more time to live and guide Moana on her quest. Considering the ocean chose Moana when she was a child, someone needed to keep the precious Heart safe. As mentioned, Gramma Tala's health begins to decline once she gives Moana the Heart of Te Fiti. ![]() ![]() ![]() You can copy away from the source image and clone it, Helicon Focus Free Activate, or you can paint it with a texture, using a brush.
